Automated Production System

Model: APS

The trend of industry is to move towards automation and there is a growing need for trained personnel to handle this technology. This requires knowledge in PLC, Micro Controller, Sensors, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Mechanics, Electronics and Control Engineering. The Automation Production System (APS) enables the students to acquire a thorough knowledge in these fields starting form the basic theoretical concepts to advanced applications. Each station is a stand-alone system - comprising of different functional modules. The modules, when assembled simulate an actual industrial process like materials dispensing, sorting of products, processing. The mounting plate provides the required electronic, mechanical, electrical and pneumatic interfaces to operate the module.

Each Station comprises of the following:

  • Aluminium profile plate upon which all the required modules are assembled.
  • An operating console, consisting of ON/OFF switches, emergency stop switch & I/O Connections
  • Programmable Logic Controller

Controller

Each Station is controlled by its own PLC or Micro Controller and can be operated independently. All Stations are designed with the requisite control of Digital Inputs / Outputs.

Function of the System:

Containers are place/dispensed on to the belt conveyor. Conveyor will sense the presence/absences of containers and if present, it shall carry them to the linear Conveyor System. Linear Conveyor will transport each bottle to the 2 axis (pick and place) module. The gripper of the transfer unit will place the bottle on the indexing Rotary Carousal Table. The motorized rotary module will index the bottle through Volumetric filling modules, capping module, capping section module. At the end, a rotary transfer module will transfer the filled and capped bottle / container to the weighing module. Once weighing is done, XY palletizing module will store it in the pallets. The system with complete PLC control module with possibility of using the modules plug and sockets to connect with Micro controller / Microprocessor to run the system. Thus the application system is truly used as a Mechatronics Training System.
