The growing needs for automation and improved methods of control have been a driving force in the development of Fieldbus technology. The ASi-T is designed to teach the theory and latest practice of the Actuator Sensor Interface. The module uses a combination of practical applications and the theory behind the technology. The student will learn how to use the AS-i intelligent sensors, actuators and remote I/O in the most efficient and effective way. They will also learn how to integrate AS-interface system from the beginning.
The ASi-T module provides an overview of the AS-i “safety to work” profile, which allows AS-i networks to be used in safety-critical systems such as: emergency stop and machine protection systems. The students will learn about the planning and installation of Fieldbus networks.
The module is of certified AS-i level and the course is designed for Engineers. No previous knowledge if AS-i or other Fieldbus systems is required. Topics covered include Build an AS-i network, AS-i wiring and installation, Configure and exercise your network, AS-i profiles and setting up basic system, programming a simple control scheme and demonstrating parameters, using an analyser to fault find and advanced diagnostics, setting up an AS-i safe system.
The ASi-T module consists of a siemens Simatic S7-300 Modular PLC complete with AS-i master, and all required I/O. The ASi-T is mounted on an aluminium board, and is supplied with coursework and manuals.
