The Control System Trainer (CST) has been designed to provide the facility to teach both digital and analogue control with the learning outcomes required for teaching students studying control systems. The Control System Trainer has two main project areas and a range of ancillary circuits with a prototyping area. The first project area provides both a d.c motor, for speed and direction control and a heater for temperature control, The second main project area is a light control system, where the controller is required to maintain a luminance when an external interference from a second lamp is introduced.
There are a variety of projects for the student to carry out using the range of sensors and devices included on the Control Systems Trainer. Simple or complex experiments are possible by linking the range of devices and sensors, using the double row connectors that accept standard solid core wired or through connection to a PC. A bread board area is provided for building control circuits to the elements in the CST. Control Programs can be written using high level programming language when linked to a PC. LabVIEW and flow chart Labwork are provided.
