Rotary Transfer Unit

Model: RTU

The Rotary Transfer Unit (RTU) represents an industrial indexing and assembly process. The RTU consists of a component dispensing mechanism positioned above a turntable. A turntable disk with metal pegs represents the assembly station that can be rotated in either clockwise or anti-clockwise direction and has a two-speed control. Black and white rings are dispensed from plastic tubes onto the pegs table. Each station on the turntable is identified using binary code methods. The binary code is established using black and white sections on the turntable. This is also replicated in the form of a mimic on top of the turntable.

Four infra-red reflective sensors identify the position and station number using bi-colour identification system. The dispensing mechanism identifies if the peg has rings loaded and what colour they are. The RTU can be connected to the PLC by PC via the 4mm colour coded shrouded sockets on the front control panel. The control panel includes on/off push buttons and an emergency stop button. Fault switches are fitted for the teaching of diagnostics.
