The vacuum forming machine (VFM) is designed to meet the requirements for teaching control applications using Programmable Logic Controllers. Students are required to write suitable control programs to produce a finished formed piece of material.
The VFM consists of two main parts. Steel chassis, Pneumatic hood which houses the quartz heating elements, pneumatic platen which holds the mould to be driven into the pre-cured moulding materials.
The VFM can be controlled by either manual controls or a PLC. The machine includes an integrated vacuum/pressure pump which, as well as supplying the airflow for the forming process, provides air pressure for moving the heater hood and platen. The platen is raised and lowered by a single Pneumatic cylinder.
